A little history behind the Sabrett Name

      Samuel Ogus emigrated from Latvia in 1909, and started the wholesale bakery, the Star Baking Company, later to become Sabrett Food Products, in 1928 with a partner.. Sabrett is known for spicy, all-beef casing kosher-style hotdogs.
      The franks can be cooked on a griddle, on a grill, but most pushcarts make “dirty water dogs” just like we do. We do this by simmering them in water that has become a rich flavorful soup after holding scores of franks over the course of a day. The franks are precooked so they are pasteurized, and the dirty water is hot enough that nothing can survive.
     There may be as many as 5,000 pushcarts in Manhattan, most of them selling hot dogs. are a Sabrett. That says something about this hot dog.
     Sabretts are a garlicy all-beef frank in natural casing (they are available skinless, but we like the snap of the skin). They are served with mustard and warm sauerkraut, like the Coney Island Hot Dog, or top it with everything. They are #1 in taste no matter how they are eaten.
